chief EXECUTIVE officer & founder

Ben Korman

Ben Korman, Founder and CEO of Lotus Equity Group, is a veteran property manager, owner and investor with more than 30 years of industry experience. Mr. Korman leverages his training and hands-on experience in civil engineering and structural design to create, plan and develop large-scale, mixed-use developments that complement and enhance their surrounding neighborhoods.

Notably, Mr. Korman is the driving force behind the 11.8-acre redevelopment of the former Bears Stadium site in Newark, NJ. His vision to build a well-planned, multi-faceted, mixed-use development in the emerging Broad Street corridor of Newark has brought together some of the country’s most renowned, forward-thinking architects to create Riverfront Square. Newark’s most ambitious development project, Riverfront Square will encompass more than 500,000 square feet of commercial office space, approximately 2,000 residential units, 10,000 square feet of open public space, a new cultural venue and new local retail spaces in the heart of Newark.

Prior to founding Lotus Equity Group, Mr. Korman was a Co-founder of C&K Properties, which has owned and operated over five million square feet of office, residential, industrial and retail properties in New York, New Jersey and surrounding major metro areas. Mr. Korman led C&K’s value-add and redevelopment efforts, most notably in Midtown South. Under his leadership and direction, the company completed numerous public private partnerships, including the 1.3 million-square-foot redevelopment of Pier 40.

Mr. Korman holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Technion Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel and an MBA from Stern School of Business at NYU. He is a native Israeli who moved to the United States in 1985.

Kevin Collins

Kevin Collins is the CFO of Lotus Equity Group. He oversees the company’s asset management department, including direct responsibility for the operations of 2 Gateway Center, Newark, NJ’s largest commercial office building, and also serves as the liaison with various governmental and community organizations, serving as Chairman of the Board of the Newark Downtown District and as a member of the board of the Newark Regional Business Partnership.

Mr. Collins has closed property related transactions totaling more than $1.5B for the firm and more than $3.0B in his career and has more than three decades of experience in corporate and real estate finance and asset management, spanning both commercial office, residential asset and development, property management and hospitality management. Prior to joining Lotus’ related company, C&K Properties, Mr. Collins worked for Cross & Brown, MJ Raynes Real Estate, Property Resources Corp., and The Broadstone Group.

Mr. Collins holds a BS in Business Management from Fordham University.

 

Managing Director of capital raising

Angus Reed

Angus Reed is the Managing Director of Capital Raising for Lotus Equity Group. Mr. Reed brings his proven ability to pursue complex transitions aggressively and apply sophisticated solutions to the acquisition process. Mr. Reed has been involved in the delivery of over $1bn of projects in Australia over the last decade. As a shareholder and co-founder of Lyons Capital, a property business based in Melbourne, Australia, Angus’s responsibilities included deal origination, strategic planning and investor relationships.

Prior to Lyons Capital, from 2000-2003, Angus was a co-founder and shareholder of 90 East Inc, Australia’s leading online managed security company that was sold in 2003 to Equity One, the venture capital arm of Bank One for AUD 23 million. Prior to 90 East Inc, he was Executive Director and shareholder of Australia Asia Management Pty Ltd from 1995-2001, which was a manager of Flinders Industrial Property Trust, a listed REIT sold in 2000 for $300 million AUD. Mr. Reed has a global network of established relationships with private and institutional investors, with a strong focus on the Asian markets.

Mr. Reed holds a BA in accounting from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.

 

Development manager

David Linehan RA, LEED AP

David Linehan RA, LEED AP is the Development Manager for Lotus Equity Group. Mr. Linehan is a licensed architect, responsible for managing the design, marketing, and approval efforts for Lotus properties. In this role he coordinates the work of Lotus’ consultant teams, as well as legal, government, and public stakeholder input and interaction. Currently, he is leading the development of Riverfront Square, Newark, NJ’s most ambitious redevelopment project.

Prior to joining Lotus, Mr. Linehan was Design Director for JDS Development Group and a Project Director with SHoP Architects. In these roles he oversaw all aspects of a variety of large-scale multi-family residential projects throughout New York City and Miami. Previous projects include the design and development of the American Copper Buildings, Monad Terrace condominiums, Vernon Boulevard mixed-use development, and the rezoning of the Hudson Square neighborhood.

Mr. Linehan holds a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and a BA in Philosophy from Georgetown University.
