Lotus Equity Group, together with its local Danish partner Seguro Management ApS, acquired Amaliegade 23-25 and is re-developing the landmark property into 35 luxury residential condominiums. The Property is uniquely located in the City Centre of Copenhagen next to the Royal Amalienborg Palaces and comprises an architecturally historically significant collection of three interconnected 18th century buildings surrounding an acre of private botanical gardens. Each condominium will be renovated with the very best in modern comfort while carefully adhering to the strict guidelines for historical preservation as established by local conservation authorities.
The buildings were constructed between 1750 and 1787 and were most recently used by the Danish state as offices. As Amaliegaarden is historically listed, the condominiums will be renovated at the highest possible level using original materials such as lime mortar, plaster on reeds, linseed oil paint and sawn pinewood. Construction elements such as doors and frames will be reused and original floors will be preserved. The work is being carried out by experts in traditional crafts in accordance with the conservation authorities’ instructions. The Royal Inspector of Listed State Buildings and partner at Arkitema Architects, Poul Schülein, is responsible for the difficult task of transforming these historic buildings into private residences. Poul is a true master in reconciling the spirit of the past with the modern person’s demands for beautiful, comfortable homes. Among others achievements, Poul was in charge of the recently completed renovation of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary’s palace at Amalienborg.
The historic property is currently undergoing an extensive renovation and conversion into a variety of home types of various sizes, from large luxury flats in the front buildings with richly decorated interiors to the smaller apartments in the picturesque garden houses. Sales commenced in the spring of 2016, the project is approaching sell-out and several units have achieved record pricing in the Copenhagen market. The first homes will be delivered to buyers in the fall of 2017.
